PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Additech sells a patented fuel system cleaner with Dual Detergency Protection TM that takes advantage of our unique at-the-pump blending capability. It is formulated with chemistry that cleans engine deposits and protects critical fuel system components.

A sophisticated blend of detergents keeps fuel injectors and intake valves clean, removes existing deposits formed by low quality gasoline and controls combustion chamber deposits formation to minimize engine knock. This unique detergent blend has been designed to clean and prevent deposit formation in both port fuel injected (PFI) and direct injection (GDI) engine configurations.

Carbon deposits reduce the fuel and air intake into the combustion chamber. They also insulate the fuel from pre-heating (that noramly occurs at the intake valves), results in less completely combusted fuel.

The detergent is then boosted with a patented friction modifier to support improved fuel economy by reducing frictional losses that occur between the pistons and the cylinder walls.

ENGINE DEPOSITS - OVERVIEW

Carbon deposits can form in an internal combustion fuel system and compromise a vehicles design efficiency by changing the fuel-air ratio in the combustion chamber. Drivers notice power loss, hesitation, knock or reduced fuel economy as a result.

Carbon deposits impede PFI fuel flow, causing less complete combustion. Electronic injection systems automatically attempt to compensate, resulting in over- and under-injecting.

DEMONSTRATED CLEANING PERFORMANCE

Engine Deposit Clean-up: the Ford 2.3L intake valve deposit test was developed by the ASTM to measure carbon build-up in the fuel system, and is utilized by Top Tier for certification and registration guidelines.

This test uses a 1994 Ford 2.3L four cylinder PFI engine that is run on dynamometer test stand for 100 hours using a test cycle consisting of two stages run at 2,000 and 2,800 RPM. At the end of the test the intake valves are removed, weight, and rated for deposits. To determine clean-up effects, the intake valves are returned to the engine without disturbing the deposits and tested for an additional 10 and 100 hours. The intake valves are then inspected and rated again.

The two clean-up lengths are used to determine instantaneous clean-up and continued use clean-up. The Additech product cleaned 34% and 45% instantaneous use at two different treat rates increasing to 42% and 77% with continuous use.

The Additech product also includes chemistry specifically aimed at protecting GDI injectors as demonstrated in a proprietary test.

Injectors are measured for flow using the on-board diagnostic computer. A direct injection vehicle, with a desired level of injector deposit formation, is then operated with fuel containing the Additech product to demonstrate cleaning benefits. As demonstrated below, the Additech product offers increasing performance benefits at each of the treat rate options.
